So today, I got my cast off. Tje story behind why I needed a cast? Well. Stupid people were pissing me off, so my anger got the best of me and I punched a pole. I know, not smart right? I've been told. lol. So, my dad took me to a place called Rebound near where we live. I started in a splint, and then the cast. Well I had the cast for about 4 or 5 weeks. More like I had 3 casts in four to five weeks. First one was green and orange. :]. It was put on and then we rescheduled to come back in in a week to get it checked upon. (Oh, and this doctor was a total hottie!)Well that one supposed to last a while, but it was falling apart quick. Anyways, I asked the doctor for a new one at my appointment a week later and he told me I only needed x-rays. UGH! But I showed him the cast damage and how it was uncomfortab;e, so we were sent to the cast room to get a new one. This would be a glow in the dark one now. Plus, two xray sessions. After, we were on our way home. A couple days I was takin a bubble bath, and had my phone with me. (NOT smart, especially with a cast) I went to grab it and it fell in the tub. Stupid ol' me used my CASTED hand to grab it. That glow in the dark cast got half soaked. We went in the next day to get a new one, yet again. This new cast was black and had it for two weeks. Well today, I got the cast off. Now I have this splint like thing on my hand. Black and pink. :] It's removable too, only because I have little excersizes to do everyday to get the full range of motion back. The only reason I can take it off for the next two weeks is to bathe and do my therapy at home.
Well I was happy. It was odd though, my neck hurt this morning, and so did my throat. Being me I thought nothing of it. Dad told me to just rest so I fell asleep. I woke up and could hardly swallow, or breathe for that matter.
So I came out crying and complaining. Dad heard me and took me to urgent care. I got a strep test and a mono test.
The mono test came up positive.
It's so hot in here right now.
And my neck is stiff.
Cool thing about it?
I get to stay home from school for a week to two weeks and do nothing but lay in bed and eat ice cream.
In 50% of teens with mono, if hit in the stomach, or is lifting, or even constipated, their spleen could rupture and need URGENT hospital care.
I don't want to be part of that 50%.
So now, music, the couch, and eggnog ice cream are my best friends.
